This research has been conducted to study the diversity of macrofauna active on the Soil Surface in Corn Plantation Areas at the UPT Benih Induk Palawija and Hortikultura Tanjung Selamat, Deli Serdang District with the aimed to analyze the presence of macrofauna species and diversity. This research was conducted on June 2022. The determination of sampling done by using the Purposive Sampling method while the soil macrofauna sampling was done by using the Pitfall Trap method. The results of the study at the corn plant area at the 25 days age there were 12 species of macrofauna found, those included in 1 class, 6 orders, 7 families, and 12 genera. At the 60 days corn area was found 20 species, those consist of 2 classes, 10 orders, 18 families, 20 genera. The total density value of macrofauna at 25 days of corn age was higher than that at 60 days of corn age. The highest index value of diversity and equitability of macrofauna active on the soil surface found of the area of 60 days of corn plants age, with the criteria of the diversity of macrofauna active on the soil surface classified as moderate. The distribution of the number of individuals of each species was also moderate, and the community stability was moderate. The soil condition was classified as polluted, moderate, and medium equitability, and stable community, respectively. The index value of similarity of macrofauna species active on the soil surface between different ages of corn plants (25 and 60 days) was 56.25% with relatively had the similar category.
