Achatina fulica is one of herbivorous animal belongs to the gastropod class that most common find in tropical climates and includes to a pest, it gives probability that A. fulica has a high unique cellulolytic microbiota in its digestive tract. This study aims to determine bacterial isolates from the digestive tract of A. fulica and determine their cellulolytic potential. The bacteria were isolated from the foregut, midgut and hindgut parts of the digestive tract of A. fulica. Screening bacteria was performed on agar CMC media to determine cellulase enzyme activity through cellulolytic index (IS) values and the selected potential bacterial isolates were tested for their ability to produce cellulase enzymes in liquid CMC media.. A total of 25 bacterial isolates were obtained from the digestive tract of A. fulica with different morphological characters. Five isolates with the highest cellulolytic index values were obtained, namely AFH3, AFH9, AFH11, AFH12 and AFH18 with the highest index value, namely isolate AFH9. The bacterial isolate that has the highest enzyme activity was AFH18 of 0.5388 U/ml. The results of molecular identification of the 16S rRNA gene sequence for potential isolates, namely AFH11, AFH12, AFH3 and AFH9, showed each were closely related to Paenibacillus alvei, Paenibacillus gelatinilyticus, Bacillus pacificus, and Aneurinibacillus humi.en_US
