dc.description.abstract | Covid-19 infection is originated from Wuhan, China. By 2020, this disease becomes a serious threat for people 's health globally and is declared as a pandemic. Its first case in Indonesia is recorded to be found on the 2nd of March, 2020. The government issues a policy on handling it, especially in emphasizing on its prevention such as 5M (wearing masks, washing hands, distancing at the minimum of1 meter, limiting activities, and avoiding crowd). The research employs quantitative method with case-control design. It is done in Mandailing Natal Regency. The samples are 80 respondents. The result of the research, viewed from socio-demographic point of view, shows that there is a correlation between age and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.006) with OR=4.631 95% CI (1.378-15.566). There is no correlation between sex and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.263). There is no correlation between occupation and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.496). There is no correlation between education and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.460). As to the health protocols, it is found that there is a correlation between wearing masks and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.075). There is no correlation between washing hands and incidence of Covid-19 (p=1.000). There is a correlation between social distancing and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.297). There is a correlation between limiting activities and incidence of Covid-19 (p=<0,001) with OR=9.731 (95%CI=2.949-32.220). There is a correlation between avoiding crowd and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.000). There is no correlation between co-morbid disease and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.692). There is a correlation between close contact and incidence of Covid-19 (p=0.015) OR=4.631 (950/61=1.126-14.525). Age becomes the risk factor of incidence of infection since bodily functions decline with age. Limiting activities and avoiding crowd are the most effective way to avoid infection from the infected persons. Close contact is the risk factor of direct transmission of the spread of Covid-19 virus from positive confirmation. It is recommended that people participate in handling the pandemic by taking part in various standard policies and maintaining their health and PHBS (Clean and Healthy Behavior) as a primary prevention in health. | en_US |
