Strategi Pengelolaan Perikanan Tangkap Ramah Lingkungan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera Belawan, Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Fisheries management is all efforts integrated in the legislation in the field of fisheries to achieve sustainable productivity of aquatic biological resources. Fisheries management activities in a water area with high fish resource productivity must pay attention to aspects that can support the achievement of environmentally friendly and sustainable fisheries management. One of the ports located in North Sumatra waters with high fish resource productivity is the Belawan Ocean Fishing Port (PPS). The purpose of this study is to determine the type of superior fishing gear, and recommend an environmentally friendly capture fisheries management strategy at PPS Belawan. The data analysis method used in this research is scoring analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that PPS Belawan is a port with complete facilities and infrastructure, and superior fishing gear that can be developed in the form of squid fishing rods as the first priority with a combined standardized value function VAG of 14.85, second priority purse seine fishing gear with a VAG of 13.73 and third priority bouke ami fishing gear with a VAG of 10.97. The strategy used in the management of environmentally friendly capture fisheries is to develop and improve technology to support the performance of vessels and fishing gear that is more environmentally friendly by utilizing existing facilities or infrastructure in the fisheries sector, optimizing the performance of fishermen's human resources to produce good catches to meet market targets both pre-production to post-production by implementing applicable policies, increase and improve the infrastructure and technology needed for the development of fish management and support the success of the capture fisheries sector, increase monitoring and attention to the area around the port and fisheries activities against pollution and fishing gear that damages the environment, mentoring and periodic direction of human resources in processing processed fish products against the impact of environmental pollution and the last strategy of socialization and guidance in order to optimize the capacity of the fish processing industry and the handling of processed products and also more environmentally friendly fishing gear.
