Perbandingan Nilai-Nilai Heroisme pada Tokoh Utama dalam Novel Bumi Manusia Karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dan To Kill A Mockingbird Karya Harper Lee; Kajian Sastra Bandingan

Abstract

Literature is an imaginative world created by an author as a form of expression. Novel is one of the forms of literature. A novel can portray values and themes that can be analyzed through characterization and narration. The novels Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee contain the values of heroism experienced by the main characters of the two novels. This study aims to determine the values of heroism in the main characters in the novels Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The benefits of this study are to enrich the study and appreciation of Indonesian literary works and to help readers understand the values of heroism in the main characters in the novels Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. To achieve the objectives of this study, the writer conducted a comparative study with a binary pattern and relied on report defaids, meaning that this study reports a factual connection between the two literary works that were examined with certainty. This study also uses comparative literature theory. The data of this study was carried out using a qualitative descriptive method by connecting the two novels and then comparing the values of heroism in the two novels.
