Abstract

This study seeks to determine the types of code switching and code mixing in Lecture by Ustaz Abdul Somad (Tablig Akbar and Prayers for Mrs. Hj. Ani Yudhoyono) on Youtube and factors that cause code-switching and code-mixing . This study is a library research and uses descriptive analysis method. The theory used in this study is the sociolinguistic theory that is related to code switching and code mixing. The study results in the findings that there are 14 forms of Code Switching (7 forms of the intern code switching type and 7 forms of the extern code switching type). There were 26 forms of code mixing (10 forms of outer code mixing and 16 forms of inner code mixing). Code switching and code mixing in Lecture by Ustaz Abdul Somad (Tablig Akbar and Prayers for Mrs. Hj. Ani Yudhoyono) on Youtube occurs between Bahasa, Malay, Java, Batak, Arabic, English and Moroccan. The factors behind the occurence of code-switching and code-mixing in Ustaz Abdul Somad's lecture “Tablig Akbar and Prayers for Mrs. Hj. Ani Yudhoyono” on Youtube, are; 1. Factors from speakers (social background, religion, and education), 2. Desire to explain to make it easy to understand, 3. Environmental factors, and 4. Encourage a sense of humor.
