dc.description.abstract | Literary works are born through the author's imagination about social phenomena that occur around him. Human life is depicted through social actions in living everyday life. This research aims to describe the forms of social action performed by the main character in the novel Bara Surat Terakhir Seorang Pengelana by Febrialdi R. The theoretical foundation used in this research is Maximilian Weber's social action theory. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique in this research starts from reading the novel and taking notes. The data analysis technique in this research starts from identifying and categorizing the data. The results of this study indicate the existence of forms of social action carried out by the main character in the novel Bara Last Letter of a Traveler by Febrialdi R. which is divided into four forms of action, namely (1) Instrumental rational action characterized by Bara's actions when learning to write, joining a volunteer at SAR, and taking a long trip. (2) Value rational actions are characterized by Bara's actions when praying, being responsible, saying goodbye to parents, saying greetings, feeding the poor, and helping when someone is in trouble, (3) Affective actions are Bara's actions when crying, getting angry, longing, falling in love, resentment, doubt, fear, happiness, surprise, disappointment, and regret, and (4) Traditional actions characterized by Bara's actions when asking for help from psychics, joking and communicating using local languages, and making a pilgrimage to Kirana's grave. | en_US |
