dc.description.abstractThe writing of this paper is carried out at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province. The objective of writing this paper is to find out the programs made by the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province in increasing public literacy. Literacy is the ability of a person to read and write, understand numbers or symbols, understand the characteristics of science, understand digital media and communication tools, be able to make effective decisions as well as the ability to provide an attitude towards understanding information. The methods employed in this writing are library research, observation, interviews, and documentation. From the results of the writing, it can be concluded that there are 4 community literacy improvement programs at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province, namely mobile libraries, reading interest promotion movements, digital reading corners, reading carts. The community literacy improvement program is still running today, the emergence of Covid-19 in early 2020 had stopped all programs. However, it was back running at the beginning of 2022.en_US
