Program Gerakan Pemasyarakatan Minat Baca di Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

The objective of the research is to delve into reading interest community movement at the Library and Archive Agency of North Sumatera Province. The data are collected through literary research and interview. The result of the research shows that the movement program for promoting reading interest to society in North Sumatera is as follows: the realization of this program is, among others, the people's awareness of the importance in learning which makes them interested in reading. This program was held in the period of 2021- 2022. Its activities are as follows: the administrationestablishment in Batubara, the inauguration of the board of management of community movement in Batubara Regency over the period 2021-2025 , the literacy promotion of SMA Negeri 16, Medan, the working visit ofTapanuli Utara DPRD members in order to increase reading interest and people's literacy, the working visit of DPRD joint commission of Tapanuli Tengah Regency in order to develop libraries annd reading interest, the audience of reading interest community movement with the president director of Bank Sumut and his officials, the technical guidance of college libraries in North Sumatera Province, the inauguration of reading cafe and providing aid for orphans at Pantai Sejarah Perpuk of Batubara Regency, and the inauguration of reading corner and lactation room at the Bina Marga and Bina Konstruksi Agency.
