Upaya Meningkatkan Minat dan Budaya Baca Masyarakat Karo oleh Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Kabupaten Karo

Abstract

The objective of this scientific paper was tofind out the effort made by theArchive and Library Agency of Karo Regency to increase the Karonese community's interest in reading culture and tofind out some obstacles faced the Archive and Library Agency in increasing the interest in reading culture in the Karonese community.This scientific paper uses literature review, observation, and in-depth interview with thestaffs of theArchive and Library Agency of Karo Regency.The result of the analysis shows that the Archive and Library Agency of Karo Regency has made various efforts to increase the interest in reading culture such opening technical implementation of unit/branch library, facilitating borrowed books, developing library management, and developing the interest in reading culture. The obstacles faced by theArchive and Library Agency of Karo Regency in increasing the interest in reading culture of the Karonese community are the Covid-19 pandemic, lack of human resources, and lack of budget.
