dc.description.abstract | The objective of this research is to find out how library collection is managed at the Public
Service in the Libraty and Archive Agency of North Sumatra Province. As a form of information
stored Jo meet library users' needs for needs information, each existing library collection needs
to be properly managed by paying attention to their shelving in the libra,y. library collection
arrangement or shelving is the activity of compiling library materials along the shelves
according to subject and classification number. A well managed collection oflibra,y
materials will facilitate the process of retrieving information quickly and accurately. The writing
of this paper uses methods of observation, inlerviews with three Public Service staff,
literature studies and documentation conducted at the Libra,y and Archives Agency of North
Sumatra Province. The results demonstrate that the shelving of libra,y collections at the Public
Service in the Library and Archive Agency of North Sumatra Province has several priorities in
the process of arranging them into shelves, namely, new library collections, ready-to-read
collections, collections ready to be borrowed and collection management results. In addition,
the shelving of the library collection also has references to the shelving. namely, by type,
guided to the 23rd edition of Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) nd arranged according to
sequences. Libraty collections that are feasible to compile are library materials that have gone
through the data collection process in Jhe Literature processing division. | en_US |
