dc.description.abstract | This research discusses the stages of the Nyepi ceremony which includes prohibitions as well as functions and purposes in Balinese society. There are some prohibitions related to Nyepi ceremony such as Amati Geni, Amati Karya, Amati Lelungan, Amati Lelanguan. Besides the prohibitions there are also functions and purposes. This research uses theories related to Nyepi cultural ceremony in Bali society. The method applied is descriptive qualitative method to find and collect data in the form of information through books, journal and internet related to Nyepi ceremony. The results of this study shows that there are several prohibitions in celebrating Nyepi in Bali, namely Amati Geni, Amati Karya, Amati Lelungan and Amati Lelanguan for 24 hours. Hindus in Bali carry out prohibitions in Nyepi because Hindus believe in karma in Nyepi which functions as self-purification. Nyepi also has various functions such as religious, social, environmental and art & tourism. The purpose of the Nyepi ceremony in Balinese society is to maintain the relationship between humans and God, humans and others and humans and nature. Nyepi ceremony is a tradition that has been carried out from time to time or from generation to generation in order to seek peace, blessings and justice given by God for all Hindus in Balinese society. | en_US |
