    Abstract
This research is a qualitative descriptive study of the social significance of death rituals for Covid-19 victims' families in Pekanbaru (Studies on Covid-19 Victims' Families in Pekanbaru). Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a family member has died in numerous communities, causing widespread grief. Social distancing has left bereaved families and funeral service providers with a number of unfortunate restrictions, including the inability to hold funeral rituals online and restrictions limiting funerals to in-person gatherings or very tiny outdoor spaces (CDC, 2020). This study sought to determine the implementation of death rituals for the families of Covid-19 victims and the significance of traditional death rituals within the nuclear family. This investigation employs a qualitative methodology. In this study, the informants are families of Covid-19 victims in Pekanbaru. Five (five) individuals served as informants for this study. The criteria for informants in this investigation are residents of Pekanbaru whose relatives have died from Covid-19. The findings of this study indicate that death rituals for the families of Covid-19 victims are conducted moderately due to government regulations governing the management of bodies and funerals. from the hospital and the absence of family and friends who can be present during funeral rituals and ostracized by the local community.
