    Abstract
Self-image is a perception or image that a person has of himself where this perception or image is then shown to those around him as a picture of himself. In this study, the development of self-image as a thesis title is based on Dramaturgy Theory by Erving Goffman by focusing on the channeling tool for building self image itself, namely social media Instagram. Instagram is one of the popular social media that allows users to share photos and videos with their followers where initially Instagram focused on sharing photos or videos with filters that can enhance image appearance. But then Instagram has developed various additional features, which make it easier for Instagram to become a medium for conveying self-image. This type of research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach method where in conducting research the researcher first conducts observations, interviews, documentation, and data interpretation whose data sources are taken through primary data and secondary data. In an effort to build self-image through Instagram social media, Front Stage conditions and Back Stage conditions are formed. Based on the above, research was carried out involving informants to explore the outline of the research discussion where it was concluded that (1) All informants had made efforts to build self-image, (2) Most of the informants stated that there was a significant difference between the Front Stage (the upload he posted ), with the Back Stage (real situations in everyday life), (3) Informants stated that Instagram has an important role in image building efforts.
