    Abstract
This thesis describes the role of the ASEAN Political Security Community (APSC) towards ASEAN member countries in responding to the presence of AUKUS in the regional area. The APSC, which is one of the pillars of the ASEAN Community, is a collaborative effort by ASEAN countries in realizing shared security, peace and a stable environment to promote ASEAN as a regional organization. This paper aims to see how cohesive ASEAN members are in responding to AUKUS and to what extent the APSC is used as an umbrella for ASEAN regional security. The APSC is expected to be able to reinterpret its principles firmly in enhancing regional security and stability together with other ASEAN member countries. Topics were analyzed using Realism and Neorealism Theory, Regional Security Complex Theory, Strategic Environmental Theory, and National Resilience Theory with qualitative descriptive methods. In the midst of the heated conflict in the South China Sea, AUKUS emerged as a new alliance which is said to be a trilateral security pact. AUKUS is an agreement to counter China's increasingly aggressive dominance in the South China Sea region with a mission to maintain regional security stability. The presence of AUKUS caused various reactions from ASEAN member countries. Several ASEAN member countries gave different responses to AUKUS. In this case the APSC looks less firm and does not work optimally according to what is written in the table field. Upon further examination, it appears that the geopolitical dynamics of the South China Sea are continuously causing tension due to competition from external parties. Therefore, ASEAN member countries need to determine their foreign policy attitudes both personally and collectively as an ASEAN entity so that regional security can be maintained.
