Pawn entrepreneurs are one aspect that contributes to the network of jobs
spread across the city of Medan. The existence of private pawns in the city of
Medan makes it easier for people to obtain fast funds without the need for
complicated requirements such as conventional financial institutions (banks).
However, in the process of implementing and developing the pawn business, there
are obstacles in the form of initial capital requirements in business capital that are
quite high and there is negative support from the family environment which is a
special consideration in starting a pawn business in the city of Medan.
This study aims to analyze how the influence of business capital and the
family environment on the decision of entrepreneurs to open a pawn business in the
city of Medan. The influence between business capital and the family environment
will be partially and simultaneously analyzed on entrepreneurial decisions.
The form of research used in this research is quantitative research with an
associative approach. The population in this study was all pawns in the city of
Medan totaling 33 pawns with sampling techniques using saturated sampling. The
primary data used in this study were obtained by distributing questionnaires
directly while secondary data were obtained through literature studies. The data
analysis methods used are instrument testing, classical assumption test, multiple
linear regression analysis, and hypothesis test.
The results showed that business capital and the family environment had a
significant effect both partially and simultaneously on the decision of entrepreneurs
to open pawn businesses in the city of Medan. The coefficient of determination test
shows that there is a very close relationship between business capital and the family
environment with an R-value of 0.908. Based on the value of Adjusted R Square, it
is also known that the variable of business capital and family environment
contributed 81.2% to the variable of entrepreneurial decisions, while the remaining
18.8% was influenced by factors outside the capital of this study.
