    Abstract
Power losses and voltage profiles are important parameters in the distribution network that must be maintained and need to be considered to avoid losses for producers and consumers. Efforts to improve power losses and voltage profiles can be carried out by providing reactive power compensation in the network using Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices such as Distribution Static Compensators (D-STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC). This thesis discusses the effect of D-STATCOM and SVC on the weakest bus based on the value of the Fast Voltage Stability Index (FVSI). Determination of the weakest bus will be carried out on the IEEE 13 Bus connected DG distribution network system. From the simulation performed, it was obtained that the location for the installation of D-STATCOM and SVC was on bus 671 with a capacity of 3 MVAR each. Power flow studies were carried out and power losses and voltage profiles were obtained. In the IEEE 13 bus distribution system connected to DG before the installation of D-STATCOM and SVC, the active power losses were 0.0805 MW, the reactive power losses were 0.0936 MVAR, and the minimum voltage profile was 0.9607 pu. At the time of SVC installation, there was an improvement in active power losses of 0.1%, reactive power losses of 0.05%, and a minimum voltage profile is 0.9618 pu. At the time of installation of D-STATCOM, there was an improvement in active power losses of 0.23%, reactive power losses of 0.11%, and a minimum voltage profile is 0.9623 pu.
