Strategi Pemenangan Elias Barus dari Partai Demokrat pada Pemilihan Legislatif Kabupaten Simalungun Tahun 2019

Abstract

This thesis aims to present Elias Barus SE's winning strategy to win the legislative elections in Simalungun Regency in 2019. Elections according to legal provisions must be held using a proportional system with an open list of candidates. His victory is inseparable from the various political strategies used during the campaign period, and a well-prepared plan will play an important role in gaining voters' votes. Elias Barus became one of the legislative candidates elected from the Democratic Party with 8,144 votes from electoral area 1 of Simalungun Regency. This study aims to let researchers know the political strategy carried out by Elias Barus SE in an effort to win the Simalungun district legislative election in 2019. This research will use a qualitative descriptive research method, namely research aimed at providing facts or events systematically and accurately -the nature of the research and analyze the truth based on the data obtained. Data collection techniques using interview techniques and through library research. Elias Barus SE uses a defensive strategy to maintain the majority of the votes he gets. So the steps taken are to maintain the stability of the voters' votes, so they don't switch to other contestants (candidates). Another strategy is the Strengthening strategy which has a certain image and this image is proven by political performance during the previous term of office. Elias Barus uses door-to door campaigns, group discussion campaigns, indirect mass campaigns using advertisements in print media and social media.
