    Abstract
Nias is a district whose majority still adheres to a strong patriarchal culture. The fighting power of Nias female students in education becomes a positive attitude by feeling empowered to feel optimistic, steadfast, passionate, motivated and has the ability to endure difficulties in the world of education and the patriarchal system. The patriarchal system causes gender inequality in education. The research method used is descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. The research informants were determined using snowball sampling. The majority of Nias people make patriarchy as a social order in society. This makes Nias female students seek and make their own choices by pursuing education. It takes determination, intention and purpose or big commitment which is a driving factor, in order to be able to fight the system (resistance). Then followed by the spirit of feminism, women's struggle to be able to live freely to determine their future autonomously (existence), and to interpret their role in life without being limited by the patriarchal system and gender issues. They take various efforts such as communicating and negotiating with their families. What they did was change the mindset of women to have equal rights for themselves and before their families and the community in Nias, providing understanding to families regarding gender equality and commitment to achieving education independently, and trying hard to achieve it. The struggle of Nias female students in pursuing their education is carried out by migrating and earning a living by working part time, utilizing the skills they have, for example sewing, selling, sales and other jobs that can generate money to finance their education independently. Gender issues are not an obstacle to being able to get an education. Nias female students' motivation to pursue education is strengthened by external and internal factors. Nias students have philosophical values such as Bologo Dodou (patience), Lauzisokhi (doing good), Lakhomiu (unite), Hinodalau (while being able/hard working), and Natolau (effort) which are potential values for Nias students in the city. . . Medan. This is evidenced by his ability to work in urban areas where the majority of the population are Javanese and Batak and get good grades in tertiary institutions.
