dc.description.abstractThe farming community is one of the groups of people who have various limitations in Indonesia. These limitations can be seen from narrow land ownership, weak capital, uneven use of modern agricultural equipment, weak control, still dependent on natural conditions, and so on. This problem is also owned by the farming community living in Dusun IV, Batukarang Village, Payung District, Karo Regency. The condition of the Batukarang farming community living in these problems has led them to the trap of poverty. So that in the increase of time the farming community who are classified as poor will be vulnerable to various domestic shocks, one example is the increase in the price of Fuel Oil. Fuel as a non renewable Natural Resource plays a vital role in meeting the basic needs of the community. This study aims to see a picture of the welfare and survival strategies of the farming community in Dusun IV, Batukarang Village as a result of frequent fuel price increases in Indonesia. The main informants in this study were four farming communities living in Dusun IV, Batukarang Village, key informants namely the Village Head and one of the Chairmen of the Batukarang Village Farmer Group, and an additional informant namely a grocery store trader who worked in Batukarang Village. Data collection techniques are carried out by literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained in the field are analyzed qualitatively so as to obtain conclusions. The results of this study show that the welfare condition of the farming community in Dusun IV, Batukarang Village is getting worse amid the increase in fuel prices. This condition can be seen in eight welfare indicators such as population, health and nutrition, education, employment, consumption levels and patterns, housing and environment, poverty, and social. The survival strategy of farming communities in the midst of rising fuel prices is divided into three, namely active strategy, passive strategy and network strategyen_US
