Introduction
Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic disease in the world while diabetic peripheral neuropathy is the most common complication encountered, so it is important to detect and prevent further complications by screening. Furthermore, there are many diagnostic tools for diabetic neuropathic pain such as DN4, LANSS, ID Pain, and painDETECT. However, research related to the comparison of the accuracy of each questionnaire is still limited.
Aim
This study was conducted to compare the accuracy of DN4, LANSS, ID Pain, and pain DETECT in the identification of diabetic neuropathic pain.
Method
This study used a cross-sectional method using an observational analytic approach in diabetic neuropathy patients. The study subjects were 75 diabetic neuropathy patients and DN4, LANSS, ID Pain, and painDETECT were assessed.
Result
The results of the DN4 score were 87.7% sensitivity, 88.9% specificity, 88.0% accuracy and 88.3% AUC. LANSS score 84.2% sensitivity, 83.3% specificity, 84.0% accuracy and 83.8% AUC. painDETECT score sensitivity 84.2%, specificity 77.8%, accuracy 82.7% and AUC 81.0%. ID Pain score sensitivity 78.9%, specificity 72.2% accuracy 77.3% and AUC 75.6%.
Conclussion
DN4 is the best diagnostic tool in the identification of diabetic neuropathic pain with good sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and predictive value..
