In the current era of globalization, there is intense competition in the
banking world. So it requires employees who can compete, which is one of the
factors that affect the success of a company in achieving its goals. Likewise with
PT. BTN Medan Branch Office must also create and have employees who have good
performance and can be responsible for all duties and responsibilities within the
company well to achieve the goals and objectives of the company.
This study aims to analyz the influence of work ethic on employee
performance, determine the influence of organizational commitment on employee
performance, and determine the influence of work ethic and organizational
commitment on employee performance.
The form of research used in this study is a quantitative type with an
associative approach. The population used in this study were employees of PT.
Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk KC Medan. This study used 61 respondents
as a sample using simple random sampling as a sampling technique.
The results of this study show that the work ethic variable (X1) has a
significant effect on employee performance. Meanwhile, organizational
commitment (X2) also significantly affects employee performance. Work ethic and
organizational commitment influence together (simultaneously) on employee
performance. The determination test obtained the result that the value of the
correlation coefficient (R) of 0.661, where the value of this correlation coefficient
shows that the relationship between work ethic and organizational commitment to
employee performance is quite strong. The Adjusted R sSquare value or the value
of the coefficient of determination shows that 41.7% of employee performance
variables can be explained by variables of work ethic and organizational
commitment, while the remaining 58.2% is influenced by other variables that are
not contained in this study
