Perancangan Youth Center dengan Pendekatan Kontemporer di Pematangsiantar

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial time because of the process of forming individual characters. In the process of character formation, teenagers enjoy doing many things including making many mistakes. Repeated mistakes and anxiety are the causes of juvenile delinquency. So teenagers especially in Pematangsiantar need more attention to channel their talents, interests, skills, and ability to be creative, adaptable, have a social, and responsible spirit. It needs a container that becomes a center of activity for teenagers to do positive and directed things. The Youth Center is a building designed to facilitate and meet youth activities in Pematangsiantar. It was designed with the theme of Contemporary Architecture. Contemporary architecture has the principle of iconic buildings, following the times, that the natural light entering the building must be maximal, integrated with the outer space, and have a solid structure. The principle is a concept that will be applied to the Youth Center building in Pematangsiantar. The Youth Center with this Contemporary Architecture approach is expected to attract the attention of teenagers to come and do activities that have benefits in it, and can be an icon for the representation of teenagers and the spirit of the times in it.
