Abstract

A reading community center is a place that acts as a forum for reading communities related to the main activities of reading, to be able to meet information needs, increase interest in reading, and channel people's creativity so that it develops more in an environment. Several reading communities in Medan City have played a role in increasing people's interest in reading with a number of activity programs that they have. However, the problem is that these communities do not have adequate places and facilities to carry out their various program activities. Therefore, the design of this reading community center is expected to be the answer to the existing problems. By combining the main activities of the reading community with public spaces, the design of the reading community center is expected to be a place for the reading community and can also increase people's interest in reading in the city of Medan. Users of the reading community center building are expected to be able to fulfill all their needs in one place so that the designed building must have a form that is in accordance with the function of the building itself. Modern architecture can be an effective and efficient approach in its application to buildings, because apart from being able to display a simple and elegant impression, the need for space functions in buildings can also be maximized so that it can help the implementation of the building design itself.
