Perancangan Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Aging in Place with Nature Tema: Arsitektur Biofilik

Abstract

The increase in the average life expectancy (UHH) of Indonesia's population will have an impact on increasing the number of elderly people, especially in big cities such as Medan City. One of the problems that arise from this is, there is a shift in social values in society which leads to an individualistic society, so that the elderly tends to receive less attention, are neglected and are excluded from community life. Therefore, it is necessary to have facilities in the form of structuring space programs and services as space containers that can meet the characteristics of the elderly to remain individuals who maintain their independence and actively socialize with their age community. The Tresna Werdha Social Institution in Medan City is a response as an effort to increase social welfare from the Government in accordance with applicable laws. The design of this Nursing Home uses the concept of 'Aging in place with nature' which is applied with a Biophilic Architecture approach that utilizes natural elements by creating spaces that can participate in improving the welfare of the elderly physically and mentally.
