Today autism is not a rare disability. Autism is a condition where there are
abnormalities in the brain tissue. This condition results in obstacles in the
development of children’s brain function which will the be seen when the child is 3
years old. This autistic problem has increased drastically in the last two decades
with an estimated 4 to 40 cases per 10.000 births.
Autism is not something to be sad about but to be thankful for. So that it
should not be used as something that must be removed from the social strata of
society. This is a form of God’s greatness and parents and society must give equal
affection to others.
One of the problems with the delay in handling autistic children, especially
in Indonesia, is that many parents and the general public do not understand the
early symptoms of autism so that the treatment that children get is too late. This is
also due to the lack of facilities that accommodate both parents and people with
autism in finding information about this disease. Therefore, it is hoped that the
Therapy Center for Children with Autism in Medan with a Sustaianble Architecture
approach can help provide the information needed in handling autistic children,
both from formal activities to therapy.
