Perancangan Art Therapy Center di Binjai dengan Pendekatan Healing Environment
Abstract
Mental health disorders are rampant and often taken for granted in society, especially
among today's teenagers. Many teenagers decide to end their lives by killing themselves
because they feel that the burden they face cannot be told or shared with others, and there is
no solution to deal with it. The government is still unresponsive to mental health issues as
evidenced by the lack of mental health facilities in Indonesia. The public's view of the
importance of mental health is also still taboo and gives a negative stigma or labeling people
with mental health disorders as crazy. Art therapy is one of the therapeutic methods that can
cure mental health problems with an art approach. Therefore, the design of an art therapy
center is a solution to mental health problems among Generation Z adolescents. The design
of the art therapy center considers the behavior of its users so that users can feel safe,
comfortable, free to express themselves, and free from negative views of society. The design
is also based on the healing environment approach; which involves the integration of
physical, social, and psychological aspects to create an atmosphere conducive to the therapy
process and the environment as the main factor in the healing process.
