Perancangan Kantor Pemerintahan Kota Binjai dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Post Modern
Abstract
Binjai is not only one of the city included in the Mebidangro development project but also
located in the Trans-Sumatra Highway lane, which make Binjai have the potential for more
development. As a city that has regional government, it certainly requires facilities and
infrastructure, such as the government offices that can support the governmental activities to be
more coordinated and to provide services that are efficient. It is also supported by the fact that
Binjai Government plans to relocate the central government to East Binjai Subdistrict thus this
study is conducted to deliver a design of the government office that is representative and
accommodative in serving the community at the new location.
The approach method used in solving design problems is descriptive method. This method
describes the primaryjand secondaryjdata based on the literature studies which will be used to
design. These data will be analyzed and generate into a conclusion.
The results of this study produce recommendations that can be used to design a
representative and accomodative government offices such as the use of local materials, building
that are responsive to tropical climates, usage of gable roofs which are a sign of architectural
transition from traditional to modern style and the use of Malay architectural ornaments as
decoration on facades and other areas.
