| dc.description.abstract | Natural beauty is a great potential for tourism development in
an area. Each region certainly has its own characteristics and
attractions in nature tourism, one of which is the Bukit Barisan
Tahura in Karo Regency. This Tahura has a rich biodiversity of flora
and fauna and is one of the natural tourist objects in Karo Regency.
Tahura Bukit Barisan is used as a means of recreation, tourism,
research, and is also used as a venue for performing various Karo
arts and cultural activities. But along with the times, people tend to
be attracted to places that have a new and unique appearance, these
places become neglected and experience a decrease in the number of
visitors which has an impact on the declining existing conditions. not
maintained. Recreational facilities and art performances that used to
be held in this place have been removed because they cannot be
funded as before.
One effort that can be done is to revitalize it in the form of an
art gallery. Apart from functioning as a place to accommodate the
creativity of actors and artists in Karo Regency, it can also be a
place for cultural introductions and to enjoy Karo tribal art works.
With the design of this art gallery, it can revive the atmosphere in
Tahura so that tourists intend to visit it.
This design applies a neo vernacular architectural approach to
art galleries that can give characteristics to the building so that it
