Abstract

The Urban Community and Recreation Center design, utilizing metaphorical architecture approach, in Medan City aims to create a functional and aesthetic space to meet the community's needs for recreational and communal activities. In this design, metaphorical architecture serves as a reference to create a visual symbol that can represent the purpose and function of the Urban Community and Recreation Center. Based on the analysis, the condition of Medan City requires a space that can provide solutions to the lack of recreational and communal facilities for the communities in the city. The design outcome indicates that the Urban Community and Recreation Center in Medan City will have a design that combines the meaning of the words "community" and "urban". The building's shape will be interpreted as a metaphor for the fusion of togetherness and harmony, as well as progress and development, by depicting a form that resembles two hands holding each other, and it will be equipped with modern materials. In conclusion, the design of the Urban Community and Recreation Center, utilizing metaphorical architecture approach, in Medan City is expected to provide solutions to the lack of recreational and communal facilities for the communities in the city.
