| dc.description.abstract | Tourism activities have an important role in improving the regional economy and increasing
the existence of the area. The Lake Siombak area is one of the tourist areas in Medan City,
precisely located in Paya Pasir Village, Medan Marelan District, North Sumatra. This
location is close to the Medan Labuhan TOD area which can be an integrated tourism area
development. This location has the potential for natural disasters such as tidal flooding,
earthquakes, strong winds, and swamps that can occur at any time so it is necessary to
anticipate these disasters. Since there are no lodging facilities in the form of hotels, resorts,
and recreational facilities in this area, it is necessary to consider natural disasters, land use,
orientation, and view issues in designing later. How to design a Resort Hotel that can carry
a disaster response architectural approach? This resort hotel building applies the theme of
disaster response architecture because it is following the previous problem. The research
method used is the descriptive qualitative method, and data collection is obtained from
literature studies, field surveys, comparative studies, and interviewees. The application of
the concept to the theme of disaster response architecture takes into account the evacuation
circulation, mass form, building facade, and structural system. This results in a resort hotel
design that has a symmetrical building shape with wide circulation, an easily accessible
assembly point area, clear evacuation routes, a solid structural system in the form of mega
columns and pile foundations, and has a facade that exposes solid structural materials. It
also maintains its functionality as a recreation area in the form of an infinity pool, a lakeside
play area, and a water pier. | en_US |
