    Abstract
    Thermal distribution with different types of transformer core connections, namely mitred and butted joints at 0.27mm and 0.30mm thickness is discussed in this thesis. This study was conducted to provide information on the effect of the type of connection on the Thermal distribution and also the core losses that occur in single-phase transformers, using the magnetic flux variation method when the single-phase transformer is not loaded. The parameters observed were the distribution of heat that occurs, voltage, current and resulting core losses. By using Visual IR Thermal and a multimeter to obtain the required data. The structure of the type of connection of the transformer core is very influential with the flux density. The butted joint type has a larger air gap than the mitered joint which results in irregular flux distribution and higher temperatures. And the zero load losses on the mitred connection 0.27mm with a value of Bm = 0.9 tesla is 1.6 watts and with a value of Bm = 1.7 tesla is 21.7 watts. on a mitred connection of 0.30mm with a value of Bm = 0.9 tesla is 1.64 watts and with a value of Bm = 1.7 tesla is 21.7 watts. At the butted connection with a value of Bm = 0.9 tesla is 5.5 watts and with a value of Bm = 1.7 tesla is 36.2 watts. At the butted connection with a value of Bm = 0.9 tesla is 6.9 watts and with a value of Bm = 1.7 tesla is 38.8 watts.
