Perencanaan Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) Domestik Perumahan Menteng Indah di Kecamatan Medan Denai

Abstract

The deterioration in environmental quality is caused by various factors, one of which is the disposal of domestic wastewater that is not treated properly and ends up in water bodies. The increasing population, the greater the quantity of wastewater produced, especially non-toilet wastewater (grey water) and toilet wastewater (black water). With the increasing quantity of domestic wastewater, appropriate wastewater treatment is needed to avoid water pollution and damage to environmental ecosystems. This planning aims to plan the Menteng Indah Residential Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Medan Denai District. The planned wastewater treatment system starts from a collection well unit with a required land area of 2.7 m2, a fat separator basin with a required land area of 7.8 m2, an equalization basin with a required land area of 20 m2, an initial settling basin with a required land area of 26.7 m2, an Anaerobic Baffle Reactor tub with a required land area of 36 m2, The final settling basin with the required land area is 23.6 m2, and the disinfectant basin with the required land area is 20 m2. The planned wastewater treatment plant can reduce COD levels by 78.1%; BOD of 85%; TSS by 92.6%; and oils and fats by 80%.
