    Abstract
The inclusion of Christianity and Western values in Toba Batak society has triggered changes in the social order of society. The education system brought by the Dutch and the teachings of Christianity spread by missionaries from the RMG (Renieche Mission Geselfchaf) zending agency not only enlightened the intellectual level of the local Toba Batak community on the one hand, but also provided many changes to the cultural aspects of that society, on the other hand. other. Gondang as the local wisdom of the Batak people initially had a strategic role within the community's traditional ceremonial activities, but over time, traditional ceremonies or parties of the Batak people have gradually used more contemporary music than the gondang music tradition. Using an ethnomusicological study approach and a qualitative descriptive-analytical research method, this paper reveals the factors of change and the impact of changes contained in the Mangongkal Holi ceremony, especially in the music used in the Mangongkal Holi ceremony in Gurgur Aek Raja Village, Tampahan District. The theory used as the author's rationale to answer the problem formulation in this study is the theory of transculturation, acculturation and change by Malinowski and the theory of music analysis by Allan P Meriam. The results obtained from this study indicate that there is a change in mindset, namely changes caused by advances in technology both in the fields of education, politics, the economy, communication, culture and religion that one of the consequences of changing mindsets is how people respond to their ancestral heritage, namely the gondang tradition. traditional ceremonial music) which is currently in a much different format because culture itself is dynamic, constantly moving according to the changing times.
