    Abstract
    This study aims to find the types and fuctions of directive speech acts and expressive speech acts in the teaching and learning process of the teachers at TK Tunas Mekar unit KSGGI (Kebun Sarang Giting) PTPN III. This research is a type of research that is decriptive qualitative, wich emphasizes the use of data obtained from field. Research procedures that procedur descriptiv e data in the form of spoken words from the observed teacher. The research data is teacher speech data at Tunas Mekar Kindergarten Unit KSGGI (Kebun Sarang Giting) PTPN III which is indicated to contain directive and expressive speech acts. The data analysis technique was carried out through several stages, namely: data transcription, data classification, and description stage. The results of the study show that there are six types of directive speech acts including: requests, questions, orders, prohibitions, granting permission, and advice. The six functions of directive speech acts include: asking and demanding which are used by the teacher in the teaching and learning process at Tunas Mekar Kindergarten Unit KSGGI (Kebun Sarang Giting) PTPN III. Whereas in expressive speech acts the results of the study show that there are six forms of expressive speech acts including: thanking, welcoming or greeting, apologizing, sympathizing, angry, praising. The six functions of expressive speech acts include: thanking, greeting, apologizing, angry, praising, satirizing.
