Analisis Makna Tekstual dan Struktur Melodi Lagu The Era of Destruction dan Intransigence Karya Grup Band Djin

Abstract

This thesis is entitled “analysis of textual meaning and song melodic structure “The Era of Destruction” And “Intransigence” Karya Group Band Djin “The Era of Destruction” and “Intransigence” is the work of djin that describes the character of the band that Djin purpose of this research is to analyze the textual meaning and to analyze the melodic structure of the two songs by Djin. To answer the above problems the author uses a descriptive method, which is a method for examining human activity, an object, a condition or a system of thought, and the aim is to fully describe the facts, characteristics and relationships between the phenomena studied. The textual meanings of the two songs and related data will be collected using a field work approach, namely through interviews, recording to informants and laboratory work. To find the meaning contained in the two death metal songs, an analysis will be carried out by applying the semiotic approach proposed by Roland Barthes. Through this theoretical approach, two different meanings will be distinguished, namely the meaning of connotation and denotation. The results of the analysis of the three songs show that both songs contain expressions of destruction in the form of messages of prohibition against life declaring destruction and human brutality. Meanwhile, the musical analysis shows that two scales are obtained from the two songs. Musical scale pentatonic on the song “The Era Of Destruction” And “Intransigence”. In terms of song format, it is obtained that “The Era Of Destruction” And “Intransigence” using strophic format and using repetitive and logogenic formats.
