Sapo Adat Jojong Sipitu Etnik Pakpak Kajian Semiotika
Abstract
In this research, the author discusses the traditional sapo of Jojong Sipitu Pakpak ethnicity based on semiotic studies. This research aims to describe the shape of the symbols found in the Jojong Sipitu traditional sapo, and describe the function and meaning of the symbols found in the Jojong Sipitu traditional Sapo. The theory used to analyze the data from this research is semiotic theory, namely symbols proposed by Charles Shanders Peirce. This study uses a qualitative method. And in collecting data applied (1) Observation Method, (2) Interview Method, (3) Literature Method. The results found in this research are that there are 23 symbols in the Jojong Sipitu traditional Sapo, namely Jojong Marcaban, Jojong Binangun, Bengkulen, Bonggar, Nengger, Gerga Parsulimbat, Takal Buffalo, Gerga Protor Kera. Apart from the type of symbol, the function and meaning found in sapo jojong sipitu are also found. This research is recommended to preserve knowledge about the traditional sapo of Jojong Sipitu Pakpak ethnicity for young people.
