Revenge as Portrayed Through The Main Character in Cruella Movie

Abstract

Cruella the Movie comes out with exciting characters especially the main character who has two different sides, namely Estella and her alter ego known as Cruella. Estella transforms into her alter ego, Cruella, and uses that identity as a tool to fight for justice and avenge her mother's death. The objective of this research is to analyzed the Revenge theme as portrayed through the main character in Cruella movie directed by Craig Gillespie. This research uses the characterization theory proposed by Edward Jones to analyze the characterization of the main character. In completing the analysis, the writer used the descriptive-qualitative research method by Interactive model for data analysis. The data is in the forms of words and sentences. Based on the analysis, this movie portrays the complexity of Cruella's character, in which the feelings of injustice and vengeance she feels lead her to extreme actions. The revenge in this movie taken by the main character is very unusual and unexpected. Usually, people immediately try to hurt the other party who has hurt them in the same way, but in this movie, Cruella takes a creative approach, through her extraordinary plan, resulting in the baroness's crimes being revealed.
