The research was conducted on Putri Hijau street, starting from the front of Grapari Telkom Group
Medan to the intersection of Podomoro City. Putri Hijau street is the main road connected to Balai
Kota Street (downtown Medan) which is one of the largest emitter of Medan City. The purpose
of this study is to estimate CO and SO2 emissions from vehicles directly or by Street Canyon Box
Model modeling. The research stages begin with literature studies, field surveys, field data
collection, air quality sampling, calculating pollutant concentrations with BMSC, comparing
research results with quality standards in PP No.22 of 2021, and finally validation tests. Based on
the results of observations of traffic volume on Putri Hijau Street, Saturday afternoon was passed
by the most vehicles, amounting to 17.299 units/hour dominated by motorcycles. The number of
vehicles contributed to the CO emission load of 77,47 g/m/hour and the SO2 emission load of
0,205 g/m/hour. The highest CO concentration occurred on Wednesday afternoon, which was
62.500 μg/m3, and the highest SO2 concentration occurred on Wednesday afternoon, which was
18,98 μg/m3. Based on the calculation results using BMSC, the highest CO concentration occurred
on Wednesday afternoon at 58.330,60 μg/m3 and the highest SO2 concentration occurred on
Wednesday afternoon at 19,019 μg/m3. BMSC can be applied in Putri Hijau Street because the
results of CO and SO2 concentrations obtained in the modeling are within the range of the
measurement directly. This is supported by the existence of 4 supporting analysis results in the
form of d=0.994, R=0.92, FB=-0.0009, and Fa2=0.93 for CO parameters and d=0.993, R=0.95,
FB = 6.10-6, and Fa2=0.95 for SO2 parameters.
