Pengaruh Penggunaan Abu Vulkanik Gunung Sinabung sebagai Filler pada Campuran Laston Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC) terhadap Nilai Karakteristik Marshall Test

Abstract

Filler is a material that has function as a filler for the cavities of an asphalt mixture. Types of filler can be used as: stone ash, lime, Portland cement (PC), and others. The small percentage of filler in the asphalt mixture doesn’t mean that it does not have a large effect on the Marshall properties. The eruption of Mount Sinabung in Karo area, North Sumatra left a lot of material spilled. This paper attempts to examine volcanic ash originating from the eruption of Mount Sinabung which can be used as filler in asphalt mixtures. Filler is one of the materials used in the Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course layer mixture (intermediate layer). In this study, the test specimens (brickets) were hot mixed at a temperature of 150ᵒC and referred to the 2018 Highways Specifications (Revision 2). In this study, variations of Mount Sinabung volcanic ash were used 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. From the Marshall Test data obtained, that meets all the requirements of Bina Marga Specifications on 2018 is 60% volcanic ash filler. The stability value is 1403 kg, flow is 3.52 mm, MQ is 398 kg/mm, VIM is 3.91%, VMA is 14.24%, and VFB is 72.55%. It can be concluded that the 60% filler content meets all the requirements of Marshall Test.
