Margarine is a water-in-oil type emulsion comprising of at least 80% lipid phase and the rest are other ingredients such as water, salt, lecithin, flavorings, dyes,
and vitamin A. Margarine has uses as a cooking medium, making cakes and cookies, and add flavor. This preliminary design of margarine plant is designed
with production capacity 9.800 ton/year using the main raw material Crude Palm
Oil (CPO) and Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Kernel Oil (RBDPKO). The
location in this preliminary plant design is planned to be in Padang Hilir District, Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatera Province with a land area of 12.204 m2. The company form is a Limited Liability Company (PT) using a line and staff organizational structure and 127 employees. Water needs in this preliminary plant design are obtained from Padang River, Tebing Tinggi with a total water requirement of 17.034,315 kg/hour.
Based on the results of economic analysis, obtained:
1. Total Capital Investment = IDR 469.632.523.362,91
2. Total Production Cost = IDR 425.509.792.337,64
3. Sales Result = IDR 597.657.068.261,00
4. Net Profit = IDR 106.606.942.882,76
5. Profit Margin (PM) = 17,837 % 6. Break Even Point (BEP) = 55,08 % 7. Return on Investment (ROI) = 22,70 % 8. Pay Out Time (POT) = 4,089 years
9. Return on Network (RON) = 37,833 % 10. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 31,652 %
Based on the results of economic analysis, it can be concluded that this margarine plant from CPO is feasible to established.
