Medan City as one of the largest cities in Indonesia which has a large
population and population density has resulted in the use of land transportation
increasing. The use of land transportation by many people chooses to use public
transportation on long trips. The trip from the city of Medan-Sibolga is one of the
long trips that use public transportation, namely Bus and Travel discussed in this
study.
This study used the Stated Preference method which was conducted by a
survey in the form of a questionnaire to 100 passengers using Bus and Travel for
the destination of Medan-Sibolga at each counter in the city of Medan. All survey
results are processed with a binomial Logit model. This study used the
linear regression analysis was carried out using the help of the SPSS program to
obtain utility functions for model forecasting in the movement of mode
users from Bus to Travel. The attributes studied were changes in time, cost,
comfort and frequency of travel from Medan-Sibolga.
The results showed the characteristics of respondents who used Bus and
Travel transportation modes predominantly respondents with male gender as
many as 55 respondents (55%), married marital status as many as 58 respondents
(58%), bus public transportation users 60 respondents (60%), travel costs of
Rp.140,000 – Rp.160,000 as many as 49 respondents (49%), travel time for 10-11
hours as many as 47 respondents (47%), The reasons for choosing the mode were
cost/economic factors as many as 38 respondents (38%), travel intentions for
work as many as 45 respondents (45%). Based on the survey results using
the stated preference technique in the questionnaire and processed with SPSS, the
probability of mode selection was obtained using the coefficient value of all
variables that have a significant effect on the binomial logit model equation, the
percentage of land transportation chosen by passenger cars (Travel) was 60.5%
while public transportation cars Bus was 39.5%.
