Brick generally used as a building material for wall construction. Brick mostly
called as red brick. The clay is casted, dried, and burned. Red brick wall has a large
enough density that about 1700 kg/m3, that be a heavy enough weight for the building
structural. An alternative for replacing the red brick is required. The alternative that
what meant is a Fly Ash Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC). Fly ash that used in this
research is obtained from PT. PLN at Pangkalan Susu. This research is using a Fly Ash
Cellular Lightweight Concrete that has to be tested before. This research uses a several
percentage variations of fly ash as a cement replacement with 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%,
40% and 50%. The test of this Fly Ash Cellular Lightweight Concrete are mechanical
properties in the form of compressive strength test and flexural strength test, physical
properties in the form of density test and absorption test. The optimum composition for
designing a lightweight concrete using a fly ash as a cement replacement is 20% Fly
Ash Cellular Lightweight Concrete that has 1,903 MPa compressive strength average,
1070,278 kg/m3 density average, 14,81% absorption value average and 0,337 MPa
flexural strength value average. Fly ash cellular lightweight concrete may replace the
red brick usage as a building material since has a lighter weight and bigger volume.
