Pre-design of a factory for making glycerol from coconut oil using the process continuous fat splitting has a capacity of 5,000 tons/year and operates for 330 daysin one year. Amount of coconut oil required for annual production amounting to 631.3131 kg/hour The specific task completed was detailed engineering design Decanter. The decanter functions to separate triglycerides from glycerol and waterbased on the density of the solution. The decanter that has been designed has specifications as follows : Material : Carbon steel SA-283 Grade C Inner Diameter : 14.6058 in Outer Diameter : 14.9808 in Shell Height : 29.2117 in Height of dish head cover : 13.8580 in Shell Thickness : 0.125 in Thick dish head cover : 0.125 in Total height of tank : 34.1484 in The factory for making glycerol from coconut oil planned to be established in Tembilahan District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. Land area required is 22,821m . Planned from of company organizational structure as well as total employes totaling 89 people. The result of the economic analysis on the pre-design of this factory are as follows : Capital Investment (CI) : IDR 52,334,321,111,- Total Cost (TC) : IDR 907,960,302,683,- Profit Margin (PM) : 25% Break Even Point (BEP) : 21,38 % Return On Investment (ROI) : 24% Pay Out Time (POT) : 4,2 Years Internal Rate of Return (IRR) : 41 %
