dc.description.abstractElectrical energy is a major need in human life. Lack of electrical energy in an area can hinder several important aspects of regional progress and development. The electricity crisis in North Sumatra Province has occurred in 2005 until now, power plants in North Sumatra can be seen that the Sibayak Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) can only generate around 2x5.65 MW, the capacity of the electrical energy generated by the Sibayak PLTP relatively low to deal with the electricity crisis in North Sumatra. The Sibayak PLTP often experiences damage to its generating system, in December 2020 the Sibayak PLTP could not operate and could not generate electricity, the cessation of the Sibayak PLTP's operation was caused by a generator component that could not work with damage to the two steam turbines. The results of the analysis show that the Sibayak PLTP is included in the adequate power generation category and has also been validated by operational tests by PLN jaser, damage to 2 steam turbines at the Sibayak PLTP due to a mismatch in the selection of components for the sulfur content in the Mount Sibayak area. the highest power consumption of around 2.83 MW occurred at 04:00 WIB and the lowest power consumption of around 2.3 MW occurred at 12:00 WIB. The highest use of reactive power around 1,109.96 KVAR occurred at 12:00 WIB and the lowest use of reactive power around 348.51 KVAR occurred at 00:00 WIB so it can be concluded that the use of reactive power for the Berastagi-Sibolangit area occurs commonly in midday.en_US
