    Abstract
    Electrical equipment has the potential to generate Electromagnetic Interference which can affect the performance of other electrical equipment in the vicinity. One of the electrical devices that can be affected by electromagnetic interference is the kWh meter. Electromagnetic interference needs to be reduced so that it does not have a significant effect on the equipment subjected to the interference source. In this study, an electromagnetic interference reduction technique using electromagnetic shielding with a kWh meter as the equipment under test was conducted. The electromagnetic shield designed and tested in this study is made of metal conductive material, namely zinc metal. The test was conducted by measuring radiation emission using a grinder as an EMI source with distances of 50 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm, and 200 cm to the kWh meter and then compared with the same test to the kWh meter that has been applied with the electromagnetic shielding reduction technique. From the test results, it can be proven that the electromagnetic shielding reduction technique is able to reduce EMI which is shown in the changing voltage wave and the decrease in frequency where the largest frequency decrease occurs when the distance between the EMI source and the kWh meter is 50 cm with an EMI source flame time of 120 seconds with a decrease of 53.8406% from 4.166 kHz to 1.923 kHz. From the test results it is also obtained that the further the distance of the EMI source to the kWh meter, the smaller the frequency received by the kWh meter from the EMI source with the smallest frequency before reduction is 2.5 kHz at a distance of 200 cm and the largest is 7.142 kHz at a distance of 50 cm and 100 cm and the smallest frequency after reduction is 1.315 kHz at a distance of 150 cm and the largest is 4.545 kHz at a distance of 50 cm.
