The increasing demand for electricity due to the diverse needs in the housing and industrial sectors requires the use of an electric power system to meet these needs. Conventional power plants face challenges in meeting overall energy needs, so Distributed Generation (DG) is needed as a solution. DG injects active and/or reactive power into the electricity distribution system to increase its efficiency, reduce network load, and improve voltage profiles. DG also plays an important role in reducing dependence on generators that require non-renewable energy. This study aims to analyze the impact of installing DG on the lines of an electric substation in Medan City (Penyulang LK.06, LK.07, LK.08, LK.09, LK.10) and propose solutions to potential problems. The research is focused on the 20 kV distribution network in Medan using ETAP software. Power flow analysis methods, especially Newton-Raphson and Fast Decoupled, are used to evaluate the power flow results after integrating DG. This research is based on the standard in SPLN No. 72 of 1987 and SPLN No. 1 of 1995, aiming to optimize electrical energy distribution to consumers. The results showed a decrease in total active power loss of 0.005 MW and a decrease in voltage of 0.054% for the minimum voltage and 0.011% for the maximum voltage. Whereas the reactive power loss did not decrease in the network using both the Newton-Raphson and Fast Decoupled methods and from the simulation it is known that the Newton-Raphson method is better than the Fast Decoupled method because the number of iterations obtains less convergent results compared to using the Fast Decoupled method.en_US
