dc.description.abstractThis research was conducted to determine the effect of composition comparison of matrix and filler on the physical and mechanical properties of particel board made from epoxy resin filled with clam shell nanoparticle powder (Polymesoda erosa). This research used epoxy resin matrix and epoxy hardener in the comparison of (60:40)% and composition comparison of matrix and filler of 100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30 and 60:40 (b/b). The method used in this composite making is compression molding. This research was carried out through several stages such as the preparation of clam shell nanoparticle powder, particle boards making and particle board physical and mechanical properties analysis. The test parameters performed include Fourier Transform – Infra Red (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), density, Modulus of Elasticity (MoE), Modulus of Rupture (MoR), thickness swelling and impact strength. The research result shown the best Modulus of Elasticity (MoE) value is 29.937,755 MPa, the best Modulus of Rupture (MoR) value is 49,556 MPa, the best impact strength value is 189,36 J/m2, density and thickness swelling tend to increase with the enhancement of filler with the biggest value respectively 1,376 g/cm3 and 6%.en_US
