    Abstract
Background: Septic shock is one of the causes of mortality in children. Increased lactate levels and the use of vasoactive drugs affects the prognosis in children with a diagnosis of septic shock. In addition to fluid resuscitation, the treatment that can be given to children in septic shock is by administering inotropic or vasoactive agents to maintain hemodynamics. Vasoactive Inotropic Score (VIS) is a score that takes into account the use of vasoactive drugs on the cardiovascular system. Purpose: This study aims to determine the correlation between lactate levels with Vasoactive Inotropic Score (VIS) and mortality in children with septic shock. Methods: Observational analytic study with cross sectional design. Inclusion criteria were medical record data for children with septic shock aged 1 month to 18 years in January 2020 – December 2021. Exclusion criteria were children with congenital or acquired heart disease, children who had previously received vasoactive, and incomplete data. Data analysis using Spearman correlation and Fisher exact test to assess the relationship between lactate levels and VIS and mortality in children with septic shock. Results: A total of 104 samples aged 1 month to 18 years who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the average lactate level was 2,65 mmol/L L, the mean VIS value was 15. Spearman's correlation test showed that there was a very weak correlation between increased levels of lactic acid and increased VIS (r=0.195, p=0.047), but there is no correlation between lactate levels and mortality (r=0,01; p 0,098). Conclusion: Increased lactate levels in septic shock are associated with increased VIS, however. There is no relationship between lactate levels and mortality.
