This research aims to describe the religious symbols and their meanings in the
Shut In Movie from the perspective of Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics. The
method used in this research uses the descriptive analysis method. The data
collection method in this research is documentation method. This research found
that four religious symbols represented in Shut In Movie, namely the symbol of
the cross, bible, candle, apple as a Christian identity. The cross symbolizes
Christians, the daily life of Christians always includes the cross. Then, the bible
symbol can mean a holy book consisting of 46 Old Testament books and 27 New
Testament books. In this holy book, some words should be emulated by a good
Christian. The Candle symbolizes the birth of Jesus, who brought light into this
world and can bring light to fight the darkness. Last, the Apple symbol can mean a
moral good morals will produce good fruit and vice versa. From these four
religious symbols, the Shut In Movie has high religious values.
